Born in St. Augustine, FL on December 9, 1942. My parents represented the first and second families that arrived in St. Augustine from Spain. This comes from church records.

Married to Kathy Sanchez, Assistant Principal at Pedro Menendez High School, I have one daughter and one grandson.

Attended catholic schools through high school and graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1960. I joined the U. S. Coast Guard Reserve and served 8 years. I was Honorably Discharged in 1968. From 1961 to 1968 I was employed in the banking business and furthered my education with numerous classes from the American Institute of Banking during this period.

Left the banking field in 1968 and began a full time career in the entertainment business working in management, production of groups and also performed as a drummer, guitarist, and spent some time on keyboards up until 1979. In 1969-1970 I was also a road manager for name acts traveling the southeast.

In 1979 I reopened my entertainment agency until 1992 when the recession of 1991 closed the doors. During this period we managed and booked groups of all sizes in club circuits. We soon became Florida’s most popular booking agency. We were licensed under the Department of Business & Professional Regulations as Sound Promotions Talent Agency.

In 1991 started working in the construction business and was licensed under my name with the same state agency listed above. Our main business was home additions, remodeling and repairs. We build around twenty homes during the time up until 2008. I was never involved in development or track building and actually never even built a spec house to sale. I closed this business because of the latest recession. I only work now as a county commissioner.

My community service includes the St. Augustine Beach Volunteer Fire Department for 14 years. Also served on the St. Augustine Beach Code Enforcement Board for 8 years and served as chairman of that board for the last 3 years. Served 3 years on the St. Augustine Beach Commission, the St. Johns County Fire Advisory Board and St. Joseph Academy Board of Directors.

Since being a county commissioner I have obtained a Board Certification from Florida Assoc. of Counties and have also finished the Advanced Certification Program.

I have served as your District 2 Commissioner for over three years. Served as Vice-Chair and now serve you as Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners.

Thank you for this opportunity.
